Stationary pneumatic probes

Stationary pneumatic probes enable precise measurements of pressure and flow variables in flow fields and are essential for experimental investigations in fluid mechanics.

Description

Areas of application

  • Pressure measurement in flow fields: Determination of total, static and dynamic pressure

  • Flow vector measurement: recording the speed and direction of the flow

Functionality

  • Measurement variables: Total pressure, static and dynamic pressure, velocity vectors, total temperature (for probes with thermocouple)

  • Measurement principle:
    • Total pressure via a tube directed perpendicular to the flow
    • Static pressure from wall pressure holes
    • Dynamic pressure from the difference between the two values
    • Total temperature via integrated thermocouple

  • Calibration:
    • High-speed calibration channel (HGK) of the Institute for Precision Tuning
    • Numerical calibration for flow probes

Properties

  • Adjustable: In-house developed adjustment mechanisms for radial and peripheral probe adjustment

  • Flexible use: Adaptable to different flow conditions and test bench configurations
