Stationary pneumatic probes

Stationary pneumatic probes enable precise measurements of pressure and flow variables in flow fields and are essential for experimental investigations in fluid mechanics.

Description

Areas of application

  • Total pressure measurement: Determination of total, static and dynamic pressure in flow fields.
  • Flow vector measurement: Detection of the velocity vectors of a flow field.

Functionality and advantages

  • Measurement principle:
    • Total pressure is measured via a tube directed perpendicular to the flow.
    • Static pressure is determined by wall pressure holes.
    • Dynamic pressure results from the difference between total and static pressure.
  • Calibration:
    • At the institute's high-speed calibration channel (HGK).
    • Numerical calibration for flow probes.
  • Probe adjustment: Radial and peripheral adjustment devices developed in-house enable flexible alignment.

Measurement variables

  • Total pressure, static and dynamic pressure.
  • Velocity vectors in the flow field.
  • Total temperature (for probes with integrated thermocouple).
