Acoustic measurement technology

The TFD has comprehensive measurement equipment for analyzing acoustic phenomena in turbomachinery and pipe systems.

Description

Areas of application

  • Acoustic fields: Measurement in interior and exterior acoustics.
  • Sound field measurements: Mode analysis and noise reduction in pipe systems and turbomachinery.

Technical details

  • Microphones:
    • Pre-polarized ¼” pressure field microphones (G.R.A.S.): Dynamic range 38-168 dB, frequency range 4 Hz-70 kHz, applications up to 140°C.
    • Pre-polarized ¼” free-field microphones (G.R.A.S.): Dynamic range 32 dB(A)-135 dB, frequency range 5 kHz-20 kHz.
    • Various free-field and pressure-field microphones (1“, ½”, ¼") from Brüel & Kjær.
  • Pressure sensors: Instationary sensors (Kulite) for various pressure ranges.
  • Analysis devices: Sound level analyzer (Brüel & Kjær Type 2250), pistophones and calibrators.
  • In-house developments:
    • Acoustic camera for localization and analysis of sound sources.
    • 2p impedance tube for the investigation of sound absorption materials.
