Field of Application
- Measurement of steady-state and transient pressures in turbomachinery
- Stall Detection
Description
The nonstationary miniature pressure transducers from the manufacturer Kulite are used at the TFD for a wide variety of applications. For example, they are used for stall detection as part of operational monitoring, but are also used for transient measurement of blade profile pressures. Due to their small size as well as the high expertise of TFD's internal sensor workshop, instrumentation with these sensors can be realized at almost any location of the turbomachine. For this purpose, the sensors are integrated into the blading in the TFD sensor workshop in such a way that they do not influence the airfoil flow itself. Furthermore, these sensors are used in the production of transient multi-hole flow vector probes for traversing the flow field within the turbomachine. They are characterized above all by their high temporal resolution in conjunction with the measurement accuracy, which is unique for this size. This also enables the measurement of transient pressures with maximum accuracy. Further information on the pressure measurement technology used in the TFD can be found on the manufacturer pages of Esteline Pressure Systems as well as Kulite.
