General information
Once you have decided on a topic, please contact the responsible research assistant at the TFD to discuss his/her willingness to supervise your thesis.
In cooperation with your supervisor, you should create a detailed task that clearly defines your topic, your research questions, the methodology and the timetable. You should also prepare a project plan that maps out the individual steps and milestones of your work.
You must then sign the assignment and submit it together with the project plan to Prof. Seume for review and signature.
The supervision is only binding with a task signed by Prof. Seume.
External theses and theses with your own topics
The TFD will be pleased to support you in the preparation of your thesis, even if you would like to complete it in industry or with your own topic. However, two conditions must be met in order to guarantee optimal support:
- Your thesis must be in line with the TFD's expertise and research focus. Topics that do not fall within the TFD's area of expertise will be referred to an appropriate institute within the faculty.
- Before writing a thesis at the TFD, you must complete a laboratory and/or student research project at the institute. This allows you to familiarize yourself with the working methods and research environment at the TFD and gain initial practical experience. At the same time, this serves as a work sample. The TFD places great value to high-quality cooperation. Therefore, only excellently completed projects are accepted as a basis for further cooperation.
